Khurda, Mar 21:
Unknown miscreants today set ablaze more than 60 houses in Adivasi Sahi of Dadhimacchagadia under Sadar police limits in Odisha’s Khurda district over the murder of a stone crusher unit owner of the same village.
The incident occurred around noon today. By the time fire tenders reached the place, houses which were mostly mud houses with thatched roofs were reduced to ashes. Even two tractors had caught fire and efforts are on to douse the blaze, eyewitness accounts said.
Miscreants also lobbed crude hand bombs at the police injuring at least four of them. Two platoons of policemen were deployed in the area to maintain law and order following the murder, reports said.
“Nine persons have been arrested in connection with the crusher owner’s murder. Two platoons of policemen are already deployed there. We are rushing in two more platoons. Three policemen have been injured in the hurling of bombs by the miscreants,” said Satyajeet Mohanty, ADGP (Law and Order).
Notably, unknown assailants had brutally stoned to death Sujit Biswal, a proprietor of a stone crusher unit in Dadhimacchagadia under Sadar police limits in Odisha’s Khurda district late on Saturday evening as we reported here.
