Bhubaneswar, Sep 26:
Unidentified miscreants hurled a crude bomb inside BJB college campus in Odisha capital today.
According to reports, some youths threw the bomb into the campus from outside the boundary wall of the college. The crude bomb exploded near the Science block, sources added.
Panic gripped students after the incident and classes were suspended immediately.
On being informed, Badagada police reached the spot and started investigation. Though the reason behind the bomb hurling was yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the incident was an outcome of pre-poll violence.
It may be noted here that two student groups of the college belonging to Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD) had faced off on August 8 pertaining to a college poll issue. Police had arrested some of the students in connection with the incident that night.
