Berhampur, Mar 28:

In a shameful incident, a minor tribal girl of Ankuli panchayat under Patrapur block in Odisha’s Ganjam district was allegedly gangraped by her five cousin brothers for 9 days at a forest over their political rivalry with her father.

The victim, a 13-year-old girl, and her father today met Ganjam SP Ashish Kumar Singh lodging a complaint in this regard.

“They raped me in the forest and threatened me not to disclose the matter to anyone. They committed the act over political rivalry with my father,” the victim said.

“I have asked the Chikiti SDPO to probe the matter. Action will be taken against the accused as per law,” SP Singh said.

According to reports, a dispute had ensued between the girl’s father and the accused after the former supported a particular party in the recently concluded panchayat polls.

As an act of revenge, the accused kidnapped the girl on March 9 while she was sleeping during night and took her to a nearby forest.

The five gangraped the minor girl at the forest for nine days and threatened the victim of killing her and family members on disclosing the matter.

The tribal girl somehow managed to escape from the clutches of the wrongdoers on March 18 and narrated the ordeal to her kin.

Though her family members had initially suppressed the matter due to threat to life, they later gathered courage and lodged a police complaint.
