Bhubaneswar, Jan 20:
The Odisha government has requested the labour commissioner of Karnataka to take appropriate action against the brick kiln owner of Khandeyarnepali of Gulbarga district, who brutally attacked Sushant Kumbhar, a 10-year-old boy of Balangir district with an iron rod in November last year, leaving him in serious danger of losing the use of his left hand.
“I have talked to the labour commissioner of Karnataka to initiate stern action against the brick kiln owner Lacchman Nayak. He has assured me to take up the matter in all seriousness,” Labour and Employment minister Bijayshree Routray told reporters here on Monday.
Meanwhile, a 7-member team of doctors at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack is ready to conduct plastic surgery on the left hand of the minor boy who has been admitted to the plastic surgery ward.
The surgery would be conducted after the swelling on his left hand is subsided, the doctors informed.
The condition of his broken left hand became more acute since it was left untreated for over a month as the brick kiln owner did not take any steps for his treatment.
