Some parts of western Odisha experienced mild tremors late Sunday evening, reports said.
As per reports, mild tremor was felt in some places in the districts of Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh.
The tremors which lasted for about three seconds was felt in Kuchinda area of Sambalpur district; Kolabira, Laikira and Kirimira of Jharsuguda district and Bhasma, Birbira, Salepali, Bamra and Majhapara areas of Sundergarh district, reports said.
People in many places claimed to have heard a loud bang before they felt the tremors. Panicked people rushed out of their homes into the streets at several places where tremors were felt.
Locals in Bamra claimed to have felt the tremor twice in quick succession after the bang.
While no damage to life and property have been reported at the time of filing of this report, however, the Meteorological department’s centre at Bhubaneswar has no reports on the tremor or its intensity.
