Worried with rise in cheating through electronic devices, metal detector will be supplied in examination halls in Odisha, a senior Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) official has said.
In the first phase 8,000 metal detectors will be brought in India and each exam centre will be supplied with hand held metal detectors, according to CBSE notification.
These devices will help curb malpractices by students. Currently, examinees are cheating with electronic devices with blue tooth hidden in watches, hairbands, underwear or sunglasses.
The hand held metal detectors will be able to catch e-appliances, miniature e-gadgets, photovoltaic appliances, wire, battery, watch, sim card, bluetooth devices sneaked into the exam halls.
According to sources, the CBSE is planning to buy 8,000 metal detectors before the JEE Main and AIPMT exams.
