The ongoing heat wave in Odisha intensified further today with temperatures soaring up to 40 degree and above in 14 places.
Besides, mercury also shot up beyond 40 degrees Celsius at Chandbali (40.7), Bhubaneswar (40.4), Angul (42.3), Jharsuguda (41.3), Sambalpur (41.3), Sundargarh (40), Hirakud (41.3), Talcher (42), Bhawanipatna (41.2), Bolangir (41.5), Phulbani (40.2), Titlagarh (42.5) and Malkangiri (41.2).
In Cuttack and Keonjhargarh, the temperature reached nearly 40 degree with 39.2 and 39.9 degree respectively.
The Met office has predicted that there would be no respite in the next two days as the heat wave is set to intensify further.
It has however, said that there would be rain or thundershower at one or two places in the next 24 hours.
