Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) AN Sahay today felicitated Mohammad Jafar Iqbal, visually impaired cricketer from Odisha who was vice-Capitan of Team India during the successful tour to England in May 2015.
Team India had won the bilateral series 2-0 in ODI and 3-0 in T/20.
Sahay presented a cheque of Rs 1 lakh to Iqbal as a token of appreciation for his successful career in the game and wished him all luck for promoting cricket among visually impaired people in the state of Odisha.
Expressing his gratitude to Mahanadi Coalfields, Mr Iqbal said the gesture was a great source of motivation for him.
Playing for the country since November 2011, Iqbal — Captain of the Odisha as well as the East Zone teams — was also a part of the Team India that won the 4th ODI Blind Cricket World Cup held in South Africa in December 2014 and the T/20 World Cup held in India in December 2012.
MCL has been extending support to talented sportspersons.
