Bhawanipatna, Mar 12:
Maoist situation is well under control in western Odisha and the security forces deployed there have put the red rebels on a defensive, said Police DG KB Singh today.
Singh was in Bhawanipatna today to review the Maoist situation in western Odisha districts of Bolangir, Kalahandi, Nuapada and Nabarangpur.
The DGP also took stock of the law and order situation of these districts.
“Today I reviewed the Naxal activities and the law and order situation in these districts. As I found out, Naxal activities have been under control. We have put them in defence. They have lost total support of the public in this area,” said Singh speaking to reporters after the meeting.
“Only 50 percent of the Maoists operating here are from Odisha. Rest are from Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. Our forces are doing a good job. Regular operations are being carried out and we have been very successful in meeting the challenges,” he added.
Additional DGs – Arun Sarangi, Sunil Roy, Santosh Upadhyay and the SPs of the four districts were present in the meeting.
