LPG bottling plant to come up in Odisha’s Balangir

Bhubaneswar: Expanding its footprint in Odisha, Maharatna PSU Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is setting up of its second LPG bottling plant in state.

The plant will come up at Barkhani village in Balangir district.

For this, foundation stone will be laid on Monday by Union Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot in the presence of Balangir MP Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Leader of Opposition in Odisha Legislative Assembly Narasingha Mishra and Patnagarh MLA Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo.

Officials from BPCL including Atul Kumar, Regional LPG Manager (East), Manas Mohanty, Head Infrastructure T/F (East), Dillip Kumar Mandal, Project Facilitator E&P, Sanjay Sharma, State Head LPG (Odisha), Debashis Palit, State Head Retail (Odisha & Jharkhand) and S.S. Sundararajan, DGM (Brand & PR) addressed in a press conference held here today.

The proposed LPG plant will be spread over 23 acres and will have the capacity to produce 42 lakh cylinders per year. The plant is expected to be operational by March 2020, the officials said.

Balangir Plant once commissioned shall be supplying LPG cylinders to the consumers in 14 districts of Odisha namely: Balangir, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Sonepur Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Nuapada.

Notably, BPCL is already having a bottling plant at Khurda.
