Most parts of Odisha would experience widespread rainfall in the next 24 hours under the influence of a low pressure, said the local Met office in a release here this evening.
“A cyclonic circulation formed over North Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh and West Bengal yesterday has turned into a low pressure area this morning. Under its influence, rain or thundershower would occur at many places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one two places over North Odisha during the next 24 hours,” the release said.
The condition would prevail till next four days up to July 12, the release said, adding there would be little change in the weather condition till the next three days up to July 15.
Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea as gusty surface wind from westerly direction with speed reaching 40 to 45 kmph gusting up to 50 kmph may prevail along and off the coast during the period.
Meanwhile, the rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours was the highest in Baleswar with 48.7 mm followed by Cuttack (21.2) and Sundargarh (19). Barring these three places, there was very little rainfall in the state.
