New Delhi/ Bhubaneswar, May 25 :
Former Union minister and the only BJP Lok Sabha candidate to win from Odisha Jual Oram is likely to be inducted into the Modi cabinet on Monday, sources in the party said today.
“Although no one knows yet who all would make it to the cabinet, Oram’s chances are heavy, because by taking him in Narendra Modi would be sending across a strong message to the people of Odisha, that despite their near total rejection of the BJP, his government stands committed to the promises he made to the people of the state during his poll campaign”, a senior party leader told OST.
” So far, not a single leader in the party has got the all-important call from Modi’s office. It is possible, as in the case of formation of the Vajpayee government, those selected for ministerial berths will get to know about it around or past midnight, ” he added.
Political observers in Bhubaneswar said there are all indications that Oram may be favoured, not only because he is an experienced organiser, former cabinet minister and a tribal leader, but also because his appointment would be politically significant as far as Odisha is concerned.
Oram’s induction would allow him the elevation and clout required to take on the Naveen government in the state and also to boost the morale of the Odisha unit, which has reasons to feel diffident after the party’s poor show at the hustings.
Oram, was not available for his comments.
Sources close to the Sundargarh MP said, they had no information on whether he was being considered for a ministerial berth or not.
