Bhubaneswar, Sep 30:
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has started investigation into the brutal attack on social activist Linkan Subuddhi in Noida.
The action of the Commission came after Supreme Court lawyer and rights activist Radhakanta Tripathy sought its immediate intervention into the case on September 23.
The Odia activist was attacked near a slum in Noida when she tried to rescue a minor girl who was being forced to marry a person far older than her.
Sources in the Commission said a police team had been sent to Bihar to track down the prime accused who had gone underground since the incident took place.
Police has arrested the parents of the minor girl on the basis of an FIR lodged by the concerned NGO where Linkan was working.
The sources also said the victim has been provided with appropriate treatment free of cost. Apart from this, two policemen have been posted at the Kailash Hospital to provide security to the victim.
