Bhubaneswar: The local Meteorological Centre has predicted thunderstorm with lightning in seven districts of Odisha today.
“Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur in Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Kalahandi and Nuapada districts between 2 pm and 4.30 pm today,” a bulletin of the meteorological centre said.
People in these districts have been advised to take shelter in nearby building or other safety locations.
On the other hand, a cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal is likely to turn into a low pressure during the next 24 hours, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasted today.
“A cyclonic circulation upto 4.5 km above mean sea level lies over northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha-West Bengal coasts. A cyclonic circulation extending upto 4.5 km above mean sea level lies over eastern parts of Mizoram & Tripura. Under the influence of the two systems, a low pressure area is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood during next 24 hours,” a bulletin of the IMD said.
It is likely to trigger heavy rainfall in south Odisha.
