Daspalla, Mar 28:
Due to scarcity in rainfall and increase in temperature, the Kuaria dam in Daspalla block of Nayagarh district in Odisha has for the first time in three decades almost dried up .
The water level in the dam has fallen below 130.34 meters. This is marginally higher than lowest water level. This lead to great problems by local farmers harvesting rabi crops.
To facilitate irrigation in the area, the dam was set up in 1984 by then Odisha chief minister Janaki Ballav Patnaik.
The level of the dam had not fallen so low in the last 32 years, according to sources.
