The tribal students at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in Odisha are now part of the Fan Club of Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kings XI Punjab.
More than 300 KISS students enjoyed watching the match between Kings XI and Chennai Super Kings at Barabati Stadium on Wednesday.
The students, who were provided with team jersey and food free of cost by Kings XI management, expressed their gratitude to Preity Zinta, Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia and Karan Paul, promoters of Kings XI, Punjab.
Founder, KIIT and KISS Dr Achyuta Samanta thanked the promoters of the team for extending the privileges to the KISS students and bringing smiles on their faces.
“We are very happy to be able to provide a platform to the tribal kids from Odisha to interact with their favorite cricketers and host them at the Cuttack stadium. We are also honoured to have partnered with KISS for this initiative and the work that they do is truly an inspiration and commendable. We urge everyone in India to take a step forward and work towards the development of these tribal children as there is an urgent need to do more towards the uplift of this section and enable them to join the mainstream ,” promoters of Kings XI Punjab said.
