Cuttack, Mar 26:
While Odisha police have reopened the case of mysterious disappearance of trader Baidhar Sahu, the family members of missing businessman today recorded their statement before police.
The brother and sister-in-law of Baidhar Sahu recorded their statement before Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court here under section 164 of CrPC.
“While we were living in village, my brother was doing business in Cuttack. He used to visit our village at least 3-4 times a month. He used to support us financially. When he went missing, we reported the matter to the police and they said that they are looking into the matter. But, we didn’t get any news of him,” said Jagannath Sahu, brother of missing businessman.
If sources are to be believed, police have got some vital leads on the mysterious disappearance of Baidhar Sahu during interrogation of Dhalsamanta brothers’ close associate Bholanath Bhagat. Police suspect the involvement of Bhola Bhagat, Siba Gocchi and Kuni Das in the case.
“We have got some information based on which we expect to detect the Baidhar case. We have begun the investigation after taking permission from the court,” Twin City Commissioner YB Khurania said.
Notably, Sahu—a scrap dealer– went missing in 2005 following which a case was filed at Chauliaganj police station. However, the case was closed in 2013.
The Commissioner today said that police have taken gangster siblings Sushil and Sushant Dhalsamanta on remand in eight of the fourteen cases registered against them. It will seek further remand in the remaining six cases.
“We are gathering more evidence against them in these cases and very soon we will seek their remand,” Khurania added.
