The police have arrested the main accused today in the shocking incident of kidnap, gang rape and sale of a 16 year-old minor girl in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
Yudhisthir Pradhan, the main accused who along with his 10 friends had allegedly drugged and kidnapped the class 10 student and taken her to Chennai, where she was repeatedly gang raped by the accused and his friends for months has been arrested by the police.
Meanwhile, the Kujang police has arrived in the capital for further investigation into the matter. The Kujang team is suppose to go to Chennai to gather more evidence.
Police is conducting raids in various places to arrest the others accused in the case.
The girl was rescued by NGOs Vishva Jivan Sewa Sangh and Ruchika Childline, who have filed a complaint in the police station. Today, police have arrested the main accused Yudhisthir. The police will further investigate the conditions under which the minor was kept and how was she pushed into prostitution.
According to the girl, a resident of Kujang in Jagatsinghpur district, she was drugged and kidnapped by Yudhisthir Pradhan, a local, and his 10 friends, in 2014 while returning home from school.
She was then taken to Chennai and kept confined to a room for months where she was repeatedly gang raped by Yudhisthir and his friends.
After repeated exploitation he brought her back to Odisha and dumped near her village warning her against dire consequences.
But, after the matter became public the villagers forced Yudhisthir to marry her. But, he took her to Bhubaneswar and allegedly sold her to an unknown person in the railway station. She was saved from their clutches by an NGO worker, yesterday.
