The court of the Additional District Judge (ADJ) here acquitted 11 accused for lack of evidence in case pertaining to the murder of Gopan Nayak of Gandagada village under Raikia police station limits, and arson during the communal riots in Kandhamal district of Odisha in August, 2008.
The ADJ Rajendra Kumar Tosh, in his verdict, acquitted Sanjib Pradhan, Bhimsen Pradhan, Biswanath Pradhan, Dasaratha Pradhan, Nakula Pradhan, Susant Pradhan, Yuvaraj Pradhan, Prahllad Pradhan, Somnath Pradhan, Arabinda Pradhan and Mahapatra Pradhan for lack of evidence.
As per the case records, the Raikia police had registered a case against 17 accused involved in the incidents on September 4, 2008.
While the court had earlier acquitted two accused for lack of evidence, two other accused—Swapneswar Pradhan and Hadibandhu Pradhan have died while the police are yet to nab the two others.
