Justice Pradip Mohanty was appointed the acting Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court on Thursday following a notification to this effect by the Union Law ministry. Justice Mohanty would remain in the post till the new appointment is made, the notification has said.
After the promotion of the outgoing Chief Justice C Nagappan as a judge of the Supreme Court, the post was lying vacant.
He was also appointed as the acting Chief Justice of the Odisha High Court after Justice V Gopala Gowda was promoted to the Supreme Court.
Born on June 10, 1955, Justice Mohanty has been discharging his duty as a judge of the Odisha High Court since 2002.
On the other hand, the office of the Registrar of the Odisha High Court still has no information about the appointment of Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel as the Chief Justice.
