Malkangiri, Nov 23:
Measures taken by the Odisha government to curb Japanese Encephalitis (JE) seems to be unfruitful as the vector-borne disease claimed the life of one more child in Malkangiri district today taking the death toll to 116.
The deceased was identified as Daniel Padiami (4) of Bataniguda village under Padia block in the district. The kid succumbed while undergoing treatment in the ICU of the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH).
On the other hand, a three-day door-to-door survey in the district for vaccination drive against Japanese Encephalitis ended yesterday. As many as 890 teams were engaged to undertake the survey on November 20, 21, & 22 for identifying children in the 1-15 age group who will be vaccinated.
