Bhubaneswar, July 29:
In an obvious attempt to keep alive the issue of misuse of discretionary quota to favour ruling party politicians, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Jaydev Jena today sought a statement from chief minister Naveen Patnaik on the allotment of houses and plots to family members of BJD vice-president and Rajya Sabha member Kalpataru Das, even as the latter clarified that there were no irregularities in the allotments.
“Even though the BJD leaders are breaking the law one after another, the chief minister is mum in all cases. It seems the chief minister is sheltering the tainted leaders, which start from Pipilli rape case to misuse of discretionary quota,” Jena said in a press statement.
Jena also questioned the grounds on which Patnaik gave the Agriculture potfolio to Pradeep Maharathy, who had resigned from the same post in the wake of his alleged involvement in the Pipilli rape case.
