The Odisha IPS officers association today condoled the tragic death of the young police inspector Dilip Sahu, who was gunned down by dacoits during a chase on Saturday in Keonjhar district.
A press release issued by the IPS Association said, “Sahu sacrificed his life at the highest altar of duty and attained martyrdom. His remarkable sense of duty, indomitable courage and unflinching commitment to profession will set an example to a generation of police officers”.
The senior police officers body requested the state government to adequately compensate the next of kin of Sahu by providing a job and a house to his wife and also bear the educational expenses of his child.
Sahu who was born in 1977 in Dumal in Kalahandi district, joined the Odisha police in 2005 as a sub-inspector and served in the Left wing extremist affected districts of Gajapati and Nuapada with distinction before being promoted to the rank of Inspector of police last year.
