Briefing newsmen at the Congress Bhawan here this afternoon, the PCC chief said the 12 party MLAs, during their visit to Delhi on July 20, had invited Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi to visit Odisha.

“Apart from this, they had given a proposal to Rahul Gandhi on the party organisation in the state, who asked them to discuss the proposal with me. I had a discussion with my party colleagues in this regard at the meeting today,” Harichandan said.

Prior to the press briefing, the PCC chief had a meeting with these 12 MLAs at Congress Bhawan. After the meeting, the MLAs went to the house of the Leader of Opposition Narasingh Mishra.

The MLAs who had not briefed the media after their meeting with the PCC chief, later told the media that they had paid a courtesy visit to Delhi where they had requested Rahul Gandhi to visit Odisha.

The rumour about the infighting in the party had gone viral in the media and political circles after senior Congress leader Lalatendu (Lulu) Mohapatra told media persons that the 12 MLAs had gone to Delhi to seek the replacement of Jeypore MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati as the party chief whip.
