The BPIA authorities announced the direct flight between Bhubaneswar and Ahmedabad on Thursday.

“We have also urged two airlines — IndiGo and AirAsia — for flight operations between Bhubaneswar and Pune,” he said.

Similarly, another daily flight from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata will be operated by IndiGo from August 1.

Meanwhile, the airport authorities are planning to reintroduce flights from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok after Air India suspended its operations on the route from Monday.

In view of suspension of Air India flight that would affect tourism sector in Odisha, the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Odisha (HARO) has written a letter to the Ministry of Civil Aviation requesting to reintroduce direct flight service from Bhubaneswar to Bangkok, source said.
