Police busted an illegal gutka manufacturing unit running at a house in Rangangpur town in Odisha’s Sundargarh district and seized 60 bags from the unit this afternoon and detained its owner for interrogation.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rajgangpur police station led by the IIC, SP Das raided the house of Laddu Agarwal (35), a resident of Bagichapara, and seized 1800 kg of gutka packed in 60 bags.
Police also seized a Tata-407 mini truck in which the gutka packets were found.
Police later detained Agarwal for interrogation.
“Agarwal was supplying gutka from his unit to the local market since last one month,” the IIC said adding that the police have informed the Sales Tax authorities and the Health Inspector to take necessary action in this regard.
