Bargarh, Dec 31:
After being in news for violating the traditions of Bargarh Dhanu Jatra by appearing at Dharmasala Mahotsav in Kansa attire, Hrusikesh Bhoi, the person who plays the larger than life character in the fest, would be having a huge sigh of relief as the Artiste Advisory Committee today decided to allow him to continue playing the role.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the committee today, source said.
As per the tradition of Bargarh Dhanu Jatra, a person playing the Kansa character shouldn’t appear or perform at any other platform with the attire.
Violating it, Bhoi had acted as King Kansa at the Dharmasala Mahotsav in Jajpur district along with Nandighosh Mohapatra, who plays the character of the king’s minister in Dhanu Jatra.
“I have committed a mistake for which I seek unconditional apology. I will not play the character elsewhere in future. I will adhere to the decision taken by the Dhanu Jatra committee,” Bhoi had said.
He was invited to Dharmasala Mahotsav for felicitation, Bhoi added.
Bargarh Additional District Magistrate Bijay Kumar Rath had issued a show cause notice to Bhoi on December 28 seeking his reply within two days in this regard.
In a written reply, Bhoi had said that he will not repeat such mistake in future.
