Bhubaneswar, Feb 12:
The week-long cease-work by house surgeons of the three government medical colleges in the state was withdrawn last evening following the assurance of the state government to look into their two major demands.
“We decided to withdraw the cease-work after the state government assured us to fulfill our two major demands,” president of the Odisha State House Surgeons’ Association Dr Harekrushna Dhal told reporters here.
The two major demands were appointment of house surgeons through Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) and increase in their stipend.
House surgeons of SCB Medical College and Hospital have already joined their duty in the evening, while the house surgeons of MKCG and VSS Medical Colleges and Hospital joined their duty this morning.
A total of 350 house surgeons of the three government medical colleges and hospitals had resorted to cease-work while extending their support to the ongoing agitation by the Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA).
