Bhubaneswar, May 27:
Heavy to very heavy rains are expected at one or two places in northern Odisha over the next 24 hours, the meteorological centre here has said.
While a few places in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhargarh and Bhadrak would experience heavy to very heavy rains, heavy rainfall is expected at one or two places over the rest of the districts of North Odisha during the next 24 hours, it said.
Rain or thundershowers would also occur at most places over North Odisha and one or two places over South Odisha during next 24 hours, it said.
Yesterday’s Well Marked Low pressure Area over South Coastal Odisha and the neighbourhood lay over Odisha and neighbourhood at 0830 hours today, the Met office said.
Under its impact, strong and gusty surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph from Southwesterly direction would prevail along and off the Odisha coast during the next 24 hours, the Met forecast said.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea.
