heavy rains“The low pressure area, which was lying over west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining north-west Bay of Bengal off south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts yesterday, turned into a well-marked low pressure area and was lying over north-west and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of coastal Odisha at 8.30 AM today with the extension of associated upper air cyclonic up to 7.6 km above the mean sea levels. Under its influence, rain or thundershower would occur at most places over Odisha with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over interior districts and heavy rainfall at one or two places over coastal districts during next 24 hours,” the Met office said in a release issued this afternoon.
