Heavy rain disrupts train services in west, south Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Aug 4:

Incessant rains in Odisha over the last two days have disrupted train services in in Angul-Sambalpur and Rayagada-Koraput routes.

TrainA release by the East Coast Railway (ECoR) today said train services in Angul-Sambalpur route has been disrupted due to overflowing of rainwater on the tracks between Sargipali and Handapa stations.

Besides, train services in Rayagada-Koraput section was partially disrupted in the morning hours today due to landslide between Keutguda and Sikarpai stations.

In view of this, ECRO has decided to cancel and short-terminate some trains in the interest of safety of train operations.

58301/58302 Sambalpur-Koraput-Sambalpur passenger will be cancelled on August 5 from both the directions while 18107 Rourkela-Koraput Express leaving Rourkela and 18512 Visakhapatnam-Koraput Express leaving Visakhapatnam have been cancelled today.

Besides, 18511 Koraput-Visakhapatnam Express, scheduled to leave Koraput on August 5, has also been cancelled.

Apart from this, 18477 Bhubaneswar-Jagadalpur Express, leaving Bhubaneswar on August 4, will run only up to Rayagada and return back from Rayagada to Bhubaneswar on August 5 and remain cancelled between Rayagada and Jagadalpur from both the directions on August 5.

58501 Visakhapatnam-Kirandul passenger leaving Visakhapatnam on August 4 will run up to Koraput and return back from Koraput to Visakhapatnam. The train will remain cancelled between Koraput and Kirandul from both the directions on Tuesday.

18005 Howrah-Jagdalpur Samaleswari Express, scheduled to leave Howrah on August 4, will run up to Titilagarh and return back from Titilagarh to Howrah on August 5. The train will remain cancelled between Titilagarh and Jagadalpur from both the directions the next day.

18448 Jagadalpur-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand Express, scheduled to leave Jagadalpur on August 4, will originate from Koraput instead of Jagadalpur today.

ECoR has deployed special railway inspection and safety teams at all sensitive locations to keep a close watch on any eventuality, the release said.
