Bhubaneswar, Aug 20:

The Odisha High Court today handed over the investigation of a case of kidnapping of a minor girl in Hinjli, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s constituency, to the CB-CID.

Rejecting the status report filed by the police in the case today in which it said it was trying to trace the missing girl, the High Court directed the CB-CID to produce the missing girl in the court on September 17.

Based on a writ petition filed by the girl’s father, Santosh Kumar Padhi of Podinigi villager under Hinjli police station, the High Court had issued a notice on January 30 this year and directed the Hinjli IIC to trace the girl.

In his petition filed through his lawyer Nishikanta Mishra, Padhi had alleged Hinjli police took no action on his FIR filed on July 10, 2012 about the kidnap of his daughter. He claimed he had also brought the matter to the notice of the Ganjam SP, but to no avail.

The girl was kidnapped on June 28, 2012.
