The Odisha High Court today asked the authorities of the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) to conduct a special entrance test for admission in the B Tech, MBC and MCA streams within 15 days.
The court asked the OJEE authorities to publish an advertisement on August 2 and complete the process of applications and form fill-up within five days from August 3 to 7 before the commencement of the special test on August 10.
The court also directed the concerned authorities to publish the result of the test on August 12, conduct spot counseling on August 14 and direct the eligible students to report to the concerned college authorities for admission on August 15.
A division bench of the court consistiing of Justice Indrajit Mohanty and Justice BN Mohapatra issued the directive in response to a petition filed by the Odisha Private Engineering College Association (OPECA).
Stating that nearly 37,000 seats in the aforesaid streams had fallen vacant in several engineering colleges in the state after the conclusion of the OJEE counselling, the Association had prayed the court to direct the OJEE authorities to conduct a special test to fill up these vacant seats.
