The state government today moved a step forward towards paperless office business with the launching of GPF Automation system with a Push SMS facility at National Informatics Centre premises here.
Inaugurating the automation software, the chief secretary Jugal Kishore Mohapatra said the software planned by AG, Odisha with technical inputs from NIC, Bhubaneswar will benefit around 2 lakh employees of the state government whose GPF accounts are being managed by AG.
The government employees can now check their GPF status online.
Speaking on the occasion Principal Accounts General Gargi Kaul said Odisha is the first state to have both the GPF e-statement and SMS push system.
She called upon all the drawing and disbursing officers to take up e-scheduling soonest so that e-statement and Push SMS can serve the GPF subscribers better.
Under the existing provisions, the employees have to wait till the end of the year to know their GPF status. But under the new system employees can instantly check their balance position.
The system is now up and running at the official website http://www.agodisha.gov.in .
The site also provides for registration of mobile numbers of subscribers through which they can get their monthly updates via SMS as soon as deposits or withdrawal is posted in their accounts. The subscribers have to get their initial registration done through their respective DDOs, sources said.
