Govt remembers ‘Nidhi Mousa’ after dengue hits state

    With the number of dengue positive cases rising every day a worried chief minister Naveen Patnaik flagged off  the ‘Nidhi Mousa Rath’ to spread awareness about vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria and diarrhea here Thursday.

    Using four languages- Odia, Desia, Kui and Saura these specially designed chariots will roll across the State till August 15, to create public awareness about the deadly diseases.

    “The campaign will help to sensitise people about sanitation and the steps to be taken to prevent spreading of vector-borne diseases,” Patnaik said following launch of the campaign.

    The campaign led by the state Health department is being conducted in association with eight other departments and NGOs and UNICEF.

    “Audio-visual materials, pamphlets and posters would be used in disseminating the information across the State,” Health Minister Damodar Rout said while attending the function.

    A photo exhibition on diarrhoea and dengue was inaugurated at Jayadev Bhawan on this occasion.
