Bhubaneswar, Sep 13:
The Odisha government on Thursday asked the superintendents, principals and heads of the departments of three government-run medical colleges and hospitals to submit a detailed report on their requirements for better treatment facilities and infrastructure development.
“The state government is willing to do whatever is necessary for the betterment of these medical colleges thereby facilitating good medical service to the patients for which fund is not a constraint”, Health and Family Welfare minister Dr Damodar Rout told the concerned authorities present at a meeting Presiding over at the State Secretariat here,
He informed that efforts are being taken to fill up the vacant 40 per cent posts in the rank of professors, associate professors and assistant professors in these hospitals.
Expressing concern over the private practice of doctors of the three government-run medical colleges, Rout asked the concerned authorities to suggest remedial measures.
The meeting decided to revive the out patient department (OPD) of the VSS Medical College and Hospital at Burla which was opened at the Sambalpur district headquarters hospital a few years ago.
