Cuttack, Oct 3:
To ensure smooth traffic during Dussehra festival, the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Central Division, has ordered the administration to launch a fresh eviction drive in the city from Thursday.
Presiding over a high level meeting here on Wednesday, RDC, Arabinda Padhee asked the district, civic body and police authorities to comply with order of the Odisha High Court October 10.
Acting on the directive of the High Court to keep the city roads free from stray dogs and cattle, Padhee asked the commissioner of Cuttack Municipal Corporation to take immediate steps in this regard.
He, however, said since the High Court’s order to relocate the cattle slaughter house near the Barabati Stadium to some other place outside the city is a sensitive issue, no immediate step would be taken on it at present.
The RDC also directed the authorities to remove all encroachments that have come up over the drains near the High Court and clear them before October 10.
He also asked the district collector Girish SN to prepare a list of all encroachments on Lord Jagannath’s land in the city sparing at least two to three feet of it for drainage purpose and bringing back the remaining land to the possession of the district administration after eviction of encroachments.
