Bhubaneswar, Jul 30:
To provide opportunity to the students, who were deprived of admission in the Plus Two streams in Odisha during the three-phase admission this year, the Higher Education department has sought fresh applications from them.
“Students who had not applied for admission during the admission process, those who were not allotted seats at the time of admission or have failed to take admission after being selected, and those who want to change their college after admission, are eligible to apply. The admission process would begin from July 31 and end on August 10. The merit list would be announced on August 14 while the admission would take place between August 18 and 24,” the department said in a notification.
Meanwhile, regular classes of Plus Two streams began in Odisha today.
As per the directive of the Higher Education department, the college authorities will provide time tables to the students and take up orientation programmes.
Most of the colleges began classes from noon. While senior students of some of the colleges welcomed the new students with flower bouquets, other colleges arranged welcome ceremony for the new students in a special room.
Basant Kumar Sahu, principal of Maharishi College of Natural Law, Bhubaneswar, said a one-hour orientation class of the new Arts, Science and Commerce students was held in separate rooms on the first day.
“We provided the courses of studies to each student while regular classes would commence from tomorrow,” he added.
