The flood situation in Sundargarh and Jharsuguda districts of Odisha has improved since Saturday evening with recession of floodwater from the low-lying areas, reports said.
In Sundargarh, floodwater of river Ib has started receding from the low lying areas in Ward No-1 Heavy downpour in the two districts.
However, supply of drinking water to the district headquarters town has been disrupted as the PHD pump house and water treatment plant are still surrounded by floodwater, reports said.
The rainwater, which had entered the gyenic ward in the district headquarters hospital, has started receding.
Efforts are on by the district administration and the Public Health department to restore supply of drinking water. Till reports last came in, of the seven pump houses, the PHD staff have repaired one pump house and started supply of drinking water. However, the amount of drinking water supplied to the people is not sufficient.
In Jharsuguda said the flood situation has also improved. Till reports last came in, floodwater has started receding from Gandaghada, Itabhati and Sahupada areas of Brajarajnagar area and Talapatia village of Jharsuguda block. The low-lying areas of the district was inaudated with the floodwater of Bheden, Tel and Basundhara rivers.
These two districts had experienced heavy rainfall in the last two days under the influence of a depression.
