With the local Met office predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in the north and coastal districts in the next 48 hours, the Odisha government today asked the collectors of six districts to remain on high alert in view of possible flash floods in major rivers .
In a letter to the collectors of Mayurbhanj, Baleswar, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal and Jajpur districts this evening, Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) PK Mohapatra has asked them remain on high alert since there is a possibility of flash floods.
“Since heavy rains are likely to lash these districts, instructions have been given to the collectors of these districts to take adequate precautions, especially in the embankment areas of Brahmani, Subarnarekha, Budhabalanga and Baitarani rivers”, Mohapatra said.
