In the Mission Rabies programme organized by People for Animals (PFA) in collaboration with WVS India in the premises of Orissa University Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), five cats were sterilized on Friday in the capital city of Odisha.
According to reports, five juvenile feniles from Bhadrak district were brought to the camp to go under the knife.
PFA secretary Amulya Nayak said, “The kittens were brought to control unwanted population growth of pet cats which poses a problem to their owners.”
The programme is an initiative to sterilize and vaccinate dogs with an aim to control their population.
Students of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry of the varsity are being trained to conduct the operations that started on November 21 and will continue till December 16 and 44 dogs were sterilized in the drive till yesterday, authorities informed.
