Bhubaneswar, Feb 8:

The employees of Urmi Productions, a television programme production house, on Saturday lodged an FIR against their producers Bini Samal and Nihar Samal for not paying them their salaries for the last two months.

The FIR was lodged at the Laxmisagar police station by Rupan Kumar Panda, a visual editor in mega serial ‘Badhu’, produced by Urmi Productions, for the last one year.

According to Panda, he, along with his assistants Sudarshan Jena and Amrit Kumar Jena, has been working in Urmi production house since one year. But the problem occurred two months ago when the producers refused to pay their monthly salary. He said he was threatened with dire consequences when he asked the producers for their salaries yesterday, Panda said.

‘Today, they crossed all their limits and physically attacked my two assistants and locked up them in their compound. They also used used vile language against me and warned me against complaining to the police,” said the harassed television professional.

In his FIR, Panda has requested Laxmisagar police station to rescue his assistants from the clutches of his producers and demanded stringent action against the accused.

On the other hand, Laxmisagar police said that after acting on an FIR lodged by Panda they have rescued the two assistants.

A case has been registered under sections 294, 342, 506 and 34 of IPC against the accused, Laxmisagar police sources said.
