Bhubaneswar: A day after Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced implementation of 7th pay commission recommending pay hike for the government employees, State’s farmers’ body Navnirman Krushak Sangathan opposed the move.

Odisha government could not meet farmers’ longstanding demands due to lack of funds, but hiked salaries of its employees under recommendation by 7th pay commission, said Navnirman Krushak Sangathan convener Akshay Kumar here today.

Addressing a press conference on premises of Utkal Sambadik Bhawan he asked, “How the government will manage to provide hiked pay to its employees if there is no funds?”

The protest will be intensified if the funds will not be allocated for the farmers in next budget, he said.
