An order on Mishra’s new appointment has been finalized by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a notification in this connection will be made very soon, said sources.

Mishra, who heads the Internal Security division in the Home ministry and has served as the Director General of Police (DGP) in Odisha was cleared by a high-powered committee headed by Union Home minister Rajnath Singh, official sources said today.

The post of CRPF Director General has been lying vacant since the retirement of Dilip Trivedi on November 30.

Mishra had himself spearheaded the operations against the red rebels when he was the DGP of Odisha and CRPF is the mainstay for anti-Naxal operations in the country.
