Former Chairman of Buguda NAC Balakrushna Patra was shot dead today by unidentified bike-borne miscreants near Odisha’s Budhakhola at about noon.
The situations remains volatile in Buguda after the news reached the town. Patra’s supporters have blocked roads at two places of town including the High school square and shut down the market demanding immediate arrest of the culprits. Local MLA has also reached the spot. Two platoon forces have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.
“As per preliminary reports, former Chairman of Buguda NAC Balakrushna Patra has been shot dead today near Budhakhola. As of now, we do not have any specific clues about the motive of murder or any details about the accused. Bhanjanagar SDPO and additional ASP are on the spot and have started investigation,” said Sourthern Range DIG Amitabh Thakur who himself was heading towards the spot.
As per sources, the incident happened when Patra was returning on a bike from a brick kiln. He received two bullets on his head and died on the spot. Even though the local Fire Stations officials of Buguda took him to the hospital, the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
