With barely a few hours left for the election results, former Commissioner of the ESI Corporation Bimal Kanti Sahu today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Welcoming him, Odisha Pravari for BJP Arun Singh said that Sahu, with his 32 years of experience in the sector of trade union and workers welfare, in various states and the centre and even at the international level, will be an asset to the party in extending social security to the 70 crore people, who are yet to be covered by the insurance sector.
He has also participated in bringing awareness on labour laws and social security in various industrial forums in the country, he said.
Singh said that Sahu joining the party will be a step in the direction of giving the right to social security, something which the party is committed to.
Among others, Sajjan Sharma, Samir Mohanty, Surendra Lath and other party dignitaries were present during the joining ceremony.
