The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) will open a 500 bedded super speciality hospital in the Odisha capital for the benefit of workers, Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya announced here today.
Dattatreya, who was here to attend the two-day national conference on Labour said the announcement was made as per the decision of the ESIC to set up two model hospitals and a super speciality hospital in each state of the country.
The Union Minister informed that nine ESI dispensaries located at Jagatpur, Choudwar, Jharsuguda, Sahid Nagar in Bhubaneswar, Barbil, Bardol, Rourkela, Rajgangpur and Hirakud in the state would be soon upgraded to six bedded hospitals at a cost of Rs 100 crore.
Dattatreya further said the Central government has also decided to set up six national career service centres in the state.
These centres would be established at Sambalpur, Dhenkanal, Rourkela, Cuttack, Gajapati and Bhubaneswar.
However, the Union Minister parried questions on the earlier proposed medical college and hospital by the ESIC in Odisha.
