Bhubaneswar, Jan 25:
The Odisha Young Entrepreneurs Association (OYEA) today cried foul over the state government’s decision to allot more than half of the land meant for the proposed MSME industrial estate at Jharpada in Angul district to one particular company, thus depriving many interested entrepreneurs who want to set up their projects.
OYEA said, the district industry centre, Angul, has identified 36 acres of land exclusively for the development of MSME industries at Jharpada and the district Collector as well as the revenue committee have also approved the same.
“The divisional head of Idco, Angul has recommended for allotment of 20 acres out of 36 acres of land to one M/s Jagannath Mineral Industries. This has shut the doors for many other units which wanted to be part of the MSME estate. The scope for small entrepreneurs to grow is being scuttled,” said RN Sarkar, president of OYEA in a letter to MSME secretary Panchanan Dash.
Urging the department to allot one acre of land to each unit, he asked the government to advise Idco to develop a planned industrial estate to accommodate at least 50 small scale units.
Meanwhile, the MSME department has asked the Idco and the district collector to take appropriate measures to ensure the entrepreneurs do not face harassment while setting up their projects.
