A three-tier security arrangement has been put on place in and around the Odisha Legislative Assembly ahead of the winter session beginning tomorrow.
As many as 30 platoons police force- including special operation group (SOG), counter terrorist squad, bomb disposal squad, Odisha Special Armed Police (OSAP), striking forces and quick response teams, constables and home guards have been deployed to maintain law and order, police sources said.
Odisha DGP KB Singh along with Twin City Commissioner of Police (CP) Dr R P Sharma, intelligence officials and senior police officials today reviewed the police bandobast in and around the state Assembly.
“I reviewed the security arrangement of the Odisha Legislative Assembly. Some areas have been declared 144. We have put in place a three-layer security arrangement for the security of the Assembly building. Security has been beefed up to ensure smooth running of Assembly session,” DGP KB Singh said.
Besides, CCTV cameras have also been installed at strategic locations on three sides of the Assembly building to monitor the movement of the demonstrators and agitators. To prevent the possibility of protesters breaking the security cordon and marching towards the Assembly, multi-layered barricades have been erected on Mahatma Gandhi Marg.
