Eight detained ahead of Hanuman Jayanti procession in Odisha’s Sambalpur

Taking initiative to maintain law and order on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in Sambalpur, Odisha police today detained eight persons including four women ahead of Akhada (arena) procession in the town.

The detainees were identified as Shiv Kumar Agarwal, Debashish Purohit, Harihara Panda, Arakshit Oram, Mamuni Barik, Kabita Mohanty, Sanju Sahoo and Sabita Patnaik.

According to police sources, the step has been taken in view of the past incidents during the festival.

As wielding the traditional weapons including sword has been banned during Akhada procession on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, police detained above eight persons as part of preventive measure.
